Book the Mayhem for your party/bar

Somewhere between Bob Dylan and Stevie Wonder you will find the Traveling Mayhem, a band always ready to have a great time. Five guys who came together under the most unique circumstances and bridge the gap between southern rock and soul.

On the acoustic guitar, Tom Carson, who has played for almost ten years in the triad area, both with bands (Grover Dill Band) and as a solo act, contributes with a strong voice remeniscent of Matt Scannell and Edwin McCain, and a rhythmic guitar stomp that will build an upbeat groove almost instantly.

Playing electric guitar and bass, Bennett Thompson, who also has a night job in the bluegrass band Old Habits (Raleigh), plays a souful lead, delicate rhythm, or searing slide guitar, also contributing vocally in the style of the great southern rock bands. Bennett and Tom have played together for the past five years all over the triangle and triad, warming up even the most difficult crowds.

Lin Peterson, also of the bluegrass band Old Habits, provides the backbone to the mayhem with his old Fender bass guitar and really helps define the powerful rhythm section of this quartet. But don't think he's afraid to step up and play a lead guitar solo that will turn heads. Lin has played with several triangle bands, notably Rooster and the Redgrass Boys.

Playing the drums is Craig Thompson, who earns his living playing the upright bass in the band Old Habits, but is just as comfortable behind the drumkit, his first instrument. Craig has played for almost fifteen years, and while he is keeping the beat for the mayhem, he might also sing lead with the quality you'll find in Gregg Allman, Robbie Robertson, and Steve Miller.

Chad Johnson, the newest member, is a veteran guitarist of the Wilmington, NC rock scene. Numerous jams at the Rusty Nail Saloon have been led by Chad and his trusty old strat. His sweet solos and instrumental talent make him a true asset to the Mayhem sound. Watch out for his first performance with the guys on June 9th @ the Speakeasy Tavern.

Expect a mix of classic rock, acoustic jams, and energetic yet mellow-when-it-needs-to-be music. The product of almost ten years of playing together in various combinations - Tom, Lin, Bennett, Craig, Chad......the Traveling Mayhem.
